What does Direct Sales and the T.V. show “Dancing With The Stars” have in common? Actually a lot! Last night I enjoyed watching this show with my family and noticed many similarities.
Here’s 8 steps to be a *STAR* in your direct sales business.
- It’s all in the presentation. The way we talk to ourselves has a huge impact with our attitude and energy. The professional dancer would continue to work with the star until they had it right and did not allow them to get down on themselves. The next time you have an in-home party presentation don’t say ” I have to work tonight”, instead say “I have a show tonight!”
- Be like-able. The couple that did the best was able to draw the audience in with their likability. It’s not just about doing a good job for your hostess, you also need to relate with the guests. Be like-able and engage with the audience.
- Pair up with someone who is successful. Learn from those at the top, learn everything that he or she is doing and duplicate it.
- Focus. Keep fear out of your head, have a clear picture as to how your business will perform. Each dancer has to learn the steps then practice, practice, practice until they get it right. With your business learn the basics then practice, practice, practice DAILY to get it right.
- Criticism. Each star has to deal with judges criticism. One of the stars said it perfectly last night, “criticism is how you learn and grow”. Exactly! We need to be able to ask successful people in our business if what we are doing is effective; then take their advice…learn from it… and apply it. Don’t let negative remarks from people who are not in this business stop you.
- Have dignity and grace. Even if you mess up it’s o.k. as long as you keep going and finish it out. Don’t stop and give up if you make a mistake. Keep pressin’ on!
- Engage with the audience and put excitement into it! Did you notice that the best performers are the ones who grab your attention right from the start. Start strong and grab people’s attention, WOW them with your excitement for your product line.
- Breathe and relax. People are watching your facial expressions. If you are tense and not breathing it will show, have confidence in yourself.
What about you? Can you find other similarities between Direct Sales and Dancing with the Stars? What do you do to make your business stand out to win? I would love to read your comments below!
Love & Success,
Jill, your analogy is perfect! Enjoyed this post.
Jill,
Excellent points. I’m having so much fun with what I’m doing that’s I don’t even think of it as a “job!”
Thanks Karen and Cindy for the responses! Glad to hear you are having fun too. Party ON!
