Your Road Map for Success…Many people are able to recognize an opportunity after it’s already passed them by….But seeing opportunities coming, that’s a different matter.

Opportunies are seldom labeled.  That’s why you have to learn what they look like and how to seize them.  The best people make it their responsiblity to go out and find them.

Walter P. Chrysler said, “The reason so many people never get anywhere in life is because when opportunity knocks, they are out in the backyard looking for four-leaf clovers.” Ha!  Now that’s a good one!!!!

Is there an opportunity right in front of you?   What are you waiting for…go for it and let’s talk!

You can read and learn all you want about the home party business and direct sales in books, online, through conference calls but until you get to a LIVE event you can’t see the big picture.  Ask anyone who is successful.

It doesn’t matter if you do the party plan/direct sales business full-time or part-time.  Attending live events is necessary to your business growth.  It provides a motivational feeding like nothing else. Find out when your next event is and start planning now.

I know what you are thinking…I can’t afford that, I have kids, money is tight.  I’ve been there…I know.  You can continue to distract yourself by telling yourself why you can’t go OR you can devote yourself to making it happen and see results!

Here’s a few ideas.  Set money aside with each sale that you make for your next live event.  Plan to room with another person to lower your hotel cost and line up babysitters now even if it’s six months to a year ahead of time.  Think ahead and do whatever it takes.  You’ll make great memories, leave with money-making ideas, inspiration, you’ll be able to share and learn from others and make long-lasting friendships that you just can’t accomplish through the internet or by phone.  These events are planned to help YOU.

What are you willing to sacrifice now to live the life of your dreams?  Are you ready?

Watch this video, it’s less that 2 minutes.  You can peek into a live event I just attended with my friends in the direct sales business.

What do you do when you know you need a kick in the pants?

You know what I mean, you should be doing something whether it relates to your business or your personal life and you just can’t get yourself to do what you are dreaming to accomplish.  For example, I know I should exercise more.   Now I have two dogs that must get exercise every day or they will destroy my house.  So lately I’ve be justifying my leisurely walk with the dogs as exercise.  I know that I should start jogging with them so we all get more of a work out.  A leisurely walk is not enough.  Then it happened, I started listening to different music on my mp3 while walking and my walk became a jog and now each day the jog is becoming a full blown run.  I’m not a runner so this is huge!  It’s amazing how one small change to your day can change your momentum.

I challenge you to go through and look at how you spend each minute of your day.  Is there something you can change up to accelerate your success?   It could be just one small thing, this doesn’t have to be huge.   When you start developing and working on yourself, the success in business will follow.   Here’s a glimpse at the music that ROCKS my day…

How about you?  What do you do when you are mentally or physically in a slump.  Turn up the volume TODAY!  I would love to hear from you, how do you propel yourself forward?

Yahoo! Last weekend I had the opportunity to remove myself from the busy pace of life and be immersed in team building activities with some friends on my direct sales team.  We discovered new things about ourselves and put our trust in each other as we were put through several team building activities.  It was a blast!

One thing we all learned was how we handle disappointment.  We  were shown how to put on our gear and the safety procedures to do the zip line adventure only to have a thunder and lightning storm hit at the exact moment we were to start this activity.  Ugh, that was a bummer!  Well we made the most of the situation and did other challenging group activities inside.  We made a point to move on, make the rest of the day fun and enjoyed our time together!

We’ve all gone through disappointments right?  How do you handle it?  Do you dwell on it for several minutes, hours or days?  Or have you trained your brain and turn your thoughts to the positive?  Attitude is everything!

What are you doing each day to grow not your business but YOURSELF.  One of my facebook friends posted this quote and I thought that is SO true!

“Don’t just read the easy stuff. You may be entertained by it, but you will never grow from it.” Jim Rohn.

All too often we get lured into the tabloids and negative news but is that really going to help us be a better person?   Work on YOU and watch your business soar to new heights!

Here’s a short 1 minute video from our trip to the adventure zone.  I can’t wait for you to see all my fancy camera work. Ha!

Today I want to share information I read over the weekend from John C. Maxwell’s book ‘The Winning Attitude”. This is an older book that I’ve had for a long time and decided to re-read over the weekend.  Maybe you’ve already read it?

Working from home definitely requires a positive attitude; especially since we don’t have to check into an office and have someone looking over our shoulder making sure the work is getting done.  We need to be self-starters and discipline ourselves to continually lead our business forward.

Here’s an interesting nugget of information from The Winning Attitude…“The Standford Research Institute says that the money you make in any endeavor is determined only 12.5 percent by knowledge and 87.5 percent by your ability to deal with people.  That is why Teddy Roosevelt said, “The most important single ingredient to the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people.”

Let’s really let that sink in…if we take the time to develop strong people skills in addition to knowing our products and services we’ll have a higher likelihood of success.  I strongly agree, how about you?

I encourage you to take the time and invest in motivational books or CDs to listen in your car that will strengthen your people skills.  If funds are tight check out your local library.

When I first started working from home I was broke and had a mountain of debt.  I would go to the local library every week and check out motivational CDs by Anthony Robbins .   It was the drives in my car listening to those motivational tapes (didn’t have a CD player in my car then, I know I’m dating myself : ) ) that gave me the courage to step outside my comfort zone and make the direct sales business work.  You can do this too, don’t let anyone steal your dream!

How about you?  Is there a particular book or CD that you’ve found has helped you grow personally and professionally?  Have you read The Winning Attitude?

I’d love to read your thoughts and comments below!

Did you know it’s National Women’s Health Week May 9 – 15?  I just found out the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services created a week long health observance to help women make health a top priority.  Good idea!  I believe as women we tend to always be the nurturers and sometimes neglect ourselves by always taking care of others.

So this is a good week to ask, are you taking good care of YOU?

We can’t run a successful home and business until we take care of ourselves first.

Here’s 5 steps to ensure you have a healthier and happier life.

  • Get moving!  Are you getting regular exercise?  My two dogs help me stay active so if you need a push a Labrador Retriever is a good pet.  They really need the exercise daily or they will destroy your house. 🙂
  • Stay away from fast food and drink plenty of water
  • Visit a health care professional to receive regular checkups and preventive screenings
  • Get enough sleep and managing stress
  • Laugh!  They say laughter is the best medicine, get together with your girlfriends and have some fun.

How about you? What ways do you keep yourself healthy?  I would love to read your thoughts and comments below!

Here’s to YOUR good health!

How was your weekend and Mother’s Day?  My family didn’t let the dogs wake me up for a change, I was able to sleep in, served breakfast in bed, was given a plant and card of appreciation.  It was the best day ever and I am extremely grateful!  This once-a-year special kind of appreciation motivates me to be the best wife and mother I can be for my family.

Let’s look at this for our businesses…how are you appreciating your clients?  Are they motivated to do business with you?  Are they feeling the love?  Do you do business with someone once and then move on to the next client or are you building lasting relationships so people come back to you for future orders or services?

It will take time.  Any successful business person will tell you it doesn’t happen over night.

Here’s 3 quick and easy ideas to gain repeat clients:

  1. Mark one day each year as a Client Appreciation Day. Offer jaw-dropping discounts or special offers for all your clients as a way of saying thank you for their continued support and referrals.
  2. Mail birthday cards or send an email to your valued clients on their birthday, anniversary or holiday. Don’t make every communication with them about business, bookings parties or buying your products and services.   BUILD relationships and then you’ll build business.
  3. Use the phone. I know, everyone talks about technology, Facebook and texting but don’t forget to pick up the phone and ask your client from last year if they’ve seen your new catalogs and products.  It’s up to us to stay in front of our clients.  They may lose their receipt with your contact information or get a virus on their computer and are unable to receive your emails.

Just like raising a child, our business relationships will grow deeper each day we invest ourselves into the lives of others.

How about you?  What ways do you show your clients appreciation? I would love to read your thoughts and comments below!

Here’s to YOUR success!
