Yesterday I was working from home and listening to Bon Jovi’s song “It’s My Life”…it’s now or never, I ain’t gonna live forever, I just want to live while I’m alive.   Maybe you know the song?

This past week I had the ability to travel to San Diego for a business conference.   It was AWESOME!!!!    The best part of this trip was connecting with people, building relationships and learning how we can help others.  It doesn’t get any better than that…people helping people succeed!

When you’re passionate about your business and how you can help others your home business with catapult to new heights!  It’s never about selling it’s about helping.

What is your purpose?   Let’s do this together.  Get crystal clear with it, write it out, go buy some poster board TODAY and write it down in BIG bold letters, cut out pictures and start dreaming big.   I’m creating a new vision board today, care to join me?

You can be, do or have anything you dream.  After that you know what I do?  I STOP and simply LISTEN to others and see if I can help fill a need.  That’s all, it’s that simple.   Don’t make it more complicated or difficult for yourself.  Let’s enjoy this journey together.

Here’s some pictures I wanted to share with you from this past week.   Wishing YOU much success!  Hugs, Jill

Yes, that’s me above on the right with my naturally curly hair (don’t laugh it was humid outside).

So many distractions, so little time.

Are you flip-flopping around day after day and at the end of the week you’re wondering…what did I really get accomplished?  I’ve been there and done that.  You probably think you’re doing the right thing by always answering your phone, responding to a text and helping others immediately.  But wait…is that really helpful or is it hindering your success?  Take a deep breath and try these tips to be more productive with your time.

  • Do you need to immediately answer every call?  Use your voice mail, you have it for a reason.  Pick one or two times each day to return calls.
  • Are you addicted to email?  What if you only checked your inbox once every three hours or twice a day at specific times?  Would that help you?   I changed the settings on my Outlook so emails automatically get updated every few hours. When they were coming in immediately I found my day was consumed responding to emails.  This helped BIG time.
  • Have a big project?  Plan the amount of time needed, set your timer then go!  Do not let anything distract you from the task at hand.  That means not answering the phone when your friend calls, informing your family you are working and cannot be disturbed, set up boundaries.  When the timer goes off, you’re done.
  • Day in and day out consider yourself in time management training.  If you fall off track don’t beat yourself up over it, move on and get back on track the next day.  Stay focused and have someone you know who can keep encouraging you.
  • Who is keeping you accountable?  When you work from home you can easily slack off if you’re not tracking your activity.  It can be as simple as keeping a sheet of paper on your fridge and writing down at the end of the day what you did and who you talked to.
  • Keep your blinders on and think like a racehorse.  Stay focused on your business.  It’s easy to lose the race when you keep watching other people.  Don’t be a spectator, get in the game and play to win!

What about you, do you have more tips or challenges you want to share?  I’d love to hear from you!

You can read and learn all you want about the home party business and direct sales in books, online, through conference calls but until you get to a LIVE event you can’t see the big picture.  Ask anyone who is successful.

It doesn’t matter if you do the party plan/direct sales business full-time or part-time.  Attending live events is necessary to your business growth.  It provides a motivational feeding like nothing else. Find out when your next event is and start planning now.

I know what you are thinking…I can’t afford that, I have kids, money is tight.  I’ve been there…I know.  You can continue to distract yourself by telling yourself why you can’t go OR you can devote yourself to making it happen and see results!

Here’s a few ideas.  Set money aside with each sale that you make for your next live event.  Plan to room with another person to lower your hotel cost and line up babysitters now even if it’s six months to a year ahead of time.  Think ahead and do whatever it takes.  You’ll make great memories, leave with money-making ideas, inspiration, you’ll be able to share and learn from others and make long-lasting friendships that you just can’t accomplish through the internet or by phone.  These events are planned to help YOU.

What are you willing to sacrifice now to live the life of your dreams?  Are you ready?

Watch this video, it’s less that 2 minutes.  You can peek into a live event I just attended with my friends in the direct sales business.

What do you do when you know you need a kick in the pants?

You know what I mean, you should be doing something whether it relates to your business or your personal life and you just can’t get yourself to do what you are dreaming to accomplish.  For example, I know I should exercise more.   Now I have two dogs that must get exercise every day or they will destroy my house.  So lately I’ve be justifying my leisurely walk with the dogs as exercise.  I know that I should start jogging with them so we all get more of a work out.  A leisurely walk is not enough.  Then it happened, I started listening to different music on my mp3 while walking and my walk became a jog and now each day the jog is becoming a full blown run.  I’m not a runner so this is huge!  It’s amazing how one small change to your day can change your momentum.

I challenge you to go through and look at how you spend each minute of your day.  Is there something you can change up to accelerate your success?   It could be just one small thing, this doesn’t have to be huge.   When you start developing and working on yourself, the success in business will follow.   Here’s a glimpse at the music that ROCKS my day…

How about you?  What do you do when you are mentally or physically in a slump.  Turn up the volume TODAY!  I would love to hear from you, how do you propel yourself forward?

I was recently asked how do I keep motivated working from home.   Good question!  The reason I keep going year after year is I’m having fun, making GREAT money and the  flexibility.  As a wife and mother it’s more important to be home and have the ability to make my own schedule versus working for someone else 9am-5pm.  Can you relate?

When it comes to having that daily motivation, you have to have a passion for the products and services you offer.

If you’re still in the “I’m not sure stage” revisit why you decided to do this and give yourself time to build a business.  I hear way too many people say “I’m going to give myself a year and then if it doesn’t work forget it”.  Why would you even start something if you are already giving yourself an out?  Instead change your thinking to “what can I do to make my business better?”   Talk to other successful people in this business.  Yes, there were times starting out that I doubted myself but as I remember back I always told myself this has to work, there were no other choices.

How badly do you want it?

Get hungry for it.

If you flip-flop around you can tire yourself out; stay focused and understand that we all have days that are not always the greatest but you keep pressing on.

Track your time.

Keep an index card or small notepad with you at all times and look at where you spend your time.  Spend any spare time you have learning about the company, products, educate yourself and most importantly DEVELOP YOURSELF.  Yup!  It’s not always about the products and services.  It’s about YOU.  The more you grow personally the more you’ll find your business growing.  Cool hugh!

Remember The Strangest Secret?   “You Are What You think”.  If you don’t think you are worthy to have a successful business you will not have a successful business.  Train your brain.  It all starts with your thoughts and you deserve the best!

How about you? Do you have other ideas you would like to share? I would love to hear from you!

Showcasing your direct sales business at a bridal expo, trade show or fair can be an excellent way to network, build your client base, book parties and recruit!   Here’s a few do’s and don’ts…

DON’T

  • Don’t sit behind the table and wait for people to come and talk to you. Boring!
  • Don’t dress too casual, you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression.
  • Don’t attack people with your opportunity and products.
  • Don’t leave your table unattended.
  • Don’t  check your cell phone for messages or even answer your phone unless it is an absolute emergency.  Even if there is no one to talk to at the moment you never know when the next person may walk up to your table.  Be available.

DO

  • Set a Goal.  Why are you working this event? Is it to book parties, if so how many?  Are you looking for recruits?
  • Have the right amount of people at the event.  You usually need at least two people working an event in case someone needs to take a break your table is never unattended.
  • Stand and walk around your table, this will keep you energized and it’s easier to talk with people when they approach you.
  • Dress to impress!  People may not remember everything you say but they will remember what you looked like and if you were friendly and approachable.
  • Use Freebies to invite people to get closer to your table, see your products and register for your gift basket giveaway.   The goal is to obtain their contact information.
  • Obtain people’s contact information by using a customer care card or create a raffle ticket for them to give you their name, address, phone number, email address, etc.  Ask them to complete the raffle ticket to enter your giveaway.
  • Have a candy dish. People love sweet treats and it will make you memorable.  🙂
  • Make it crystal clear about what you have to offer if someone passes by; use a clear acrylic 8 ½ x 11 paper holder that you can get from any office store to display incentives or product information.
  • Have plenty of brochures and information packets available for people to take home. This is especially helpful at bridal expos.  Ladies are walking through bridal expos to obtain information. They are not there to buy, they are there to see who can do their flowers, cake, music, dress, bridesmaids gifts, bachelorette party, etc.
  • Follow up with your contacts with an email,  postcard or phone call within 1-4 days of the show.    People may get overwhelmed with all the information they received the day of the expo and may lose your information.  It’s imperative to follow up so people know how to find you.  Remind them about your products and services and how you can HELP THEM.  Remember it’s not about you, it’s all about them.
  • Wear your smile and winning attitude!

Do you have a do or don’t you’d like to share?  I’d love to read your thoughts and comments!
